Kahuzi-Biega National Park Unveils Its New Official Website www.kahuzibiega.com

On the occasion of World Rainforest Day, Kahuzi-Biega National Park (KBNP) has launched a new official website - www.kahuzibiega.com.

It is now the official source of information about the Park for the general public, partners, and stakeholders.

Available in French and English, this new information portal provides an overview of KBNP’s institutional framework and programs. It lists and describes the conservation values of this exceptional Park, which is notable not only for the iconic species it is home to—such as the Grauer’s gorilla—but also for the multitude of species that inhabit it and the diversity of ecosystems that define it. It provides access to the resources needed to plan and book a visit to the Park. Finally, it allows users to access the latest information on the Park’s activities, as well as a number of periodic publications and scientific papers.

The website will also help strengthen the connection between the Park team and its target audiences through a simple contact form. The ability, for neighbouring communities as well as visitors, to submit grievances, complaints, and suggestions represents an additional and secure channel for its Feedback and Grievance Redress Mechanism (FGRM).

On this World Rainforest Day, www.kahuzibiega.com shines a welcome spotlight on the rich forest ecosystems of Kahuzi-Biega. From lowland forests, Afro-montane forests, and bamboo forests, to subalpine grasslands and heathlands on the Kahuzi and Biega mountains, it is one of the few parks in sub-Saharan Africa that protects such a large diversity of habitats.

This tool marks an important new development under the KBNP co-management agreement between the Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which has been in effect since 2022.

Due to the current security situation in South Kivu Province, Kahuzi-Biega National Park remains closed to the public and to tourism until further notice.
